War of 1812, Antique 19th Century Cavalry Saber – Curved Blade, Bone Grip
Offered here is an authentic antique 19th century cavalry saber, a classic example of the sidearms carried by mounted troops during the early to mid-1800s.
Features:
Curved single-edged blade with a broad fuller, designed for devastating slashing cuts from horseback.
Simple stirrup-style iron guard with forward quillon, providing solid hand protection without unnecessary weight.
Bone grip with cross-hatch pattern, showing age-appropriate patina and wear, offering both beauty and grip texture.
Overall form strongly reminiscent of European and early American cavalry sabers such as the French AN XI, Prussian Blücher, and U.S. Dragoon models.
Condition:
Blade shows dark patina and honest wear consistent with age.
Guard and hilt are solid, with no looseness. The ferrule is lose.
Grip is intact with minor age-related cracks and surface wear, with small chip (as shown in photos).
No scabbard included.
Measurements (approximate):
Blade Length: ~31.5 inches (standard cavalry saber length).
Notes:
This is a genuine antique military saber, not a reproduction. It would make an excellent addition to any collection of early 19th century arms, U.S. Civil War–era militaria, or European cavalry weapons. Perfect for display, study, or as a historical conversation piece.
