Prussian M1811 Officer’s Cavalry Sabre with Scabbard

This is an original Prussian Model 1811 Officer’s Cavalry Sabre, commonly referred to as the “Blücher Säbel.” Unlike the enlisted trooper’s iron-mounted examples, this officer’s version features a brass stirrup guard and brass-mounted leather scabbard, both lighter and more refined in keeping with officer standards of the period.

  • Blade: Broad, curved single-fuller blade with an attractive aged patina. The edge bears scattered nicks from service use, adding to its authenticity and historic character. Solid and structurally sound.

  • Hilt: Brass stirrup guard with forward quillon and rounded pommel cap. Wooden grip remains intact, showing age with much of the original leather and wire wrap worn away. The hilt remains secure with no looseness.

  • Scabbard: Leather-covered wooden body with brass throat and middle mount, each fitted with suspension rings. Shows age-related wear and surface cracking but remains complete and stable.

An excellent example of the officer’s pattern M1811, showing both quality construction and genuine field wear. This sabre represents a fine addition to any 19th-century European militaria collection.
