Ottoman Kilij Saber – 18th to 19th Century Style
Offered here is a fine example of an Ottoman-style Kilij saber, a weapon that defined the cavalry of the Ottoman Empire and influenced sword design across Europe and Asia. This piece features a dramatically curved Damascus-style blade, well-balanced for devastating slashing power on horseback.
The hilt is equipped with a brass crossguard with rounded finials, paired with hardwood grip scales secured by brass rivets and a full backstrap. The blade shows areas of patina and surface oxidation, consistent with age, while still retaining a visible layered forging pattern.
Overall length: approx. 35–37 inches (est.)
Blade: Curved, single-edged, Damascus-style forging
Hilt: Brass crossguard with wooden grips, riveted construction
Condition: Displays age-related wear, patina, and oxidation; structurally sound with great character
This Kilij is a classic representation of Ottoman martial heritage, making it an excellent addition for collectors of Islamic, Middle Eastern, or cavalry swords.
