Antique 19th Century Officer’s Saber – 27" Blade, Brass Guard, Leather Grip
Offered here is an authentic 19th century officer’s saber, a lighter sidearm carried by infantry or artillery officers during the mid-1800s. With its shorter blade and elegant brass guard, this piece combines functionality with the refined style typical of officer-grade swords.
Features:
27-inch curved single-edged blade with fuller, well-balanced and lightweight.
Brass three-branch guard with knuckle bow and forward quillon, offering solid hand protection.
Leather grip with brass wire wrap, showing age and patina but retaining much of its original detail.
Overall form consistent with light artillery sabers or officer’s sabers of the mid-19th century.
Condition:
Blade shows patina, staining, and surface wear, but is structurally sound.
Brass guard has developed an attractive aged patina.
Leather grip shows wear and some loss near the pommel, but much of the wire wrap remains intact.
No scabbard included.
Measurements:
Blade length: 27 inches
Notes:
This is a genuine antique officer’s saber, not a reproduction. Its lighter weight and shorter length make it a fine representative of the swords carried by infantry and artillery officers in the mid-19th century. Perfect for collectors of military antiques, Civil War–era relics, or 19th century edged weapons.
