Antique German Cavalry Saber by WKC Solingen
Offered here is an authentic German cavalry saber manufactured by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie. (WKC) of Solingen, Germany. This legendary maker, formed in 1883 through the merger of two of Solingen’s oldest blade-making families, supplied edged weapons to the Imperial German Army and export markets worldwide. Their mark—a knight’s helmet with the initials W.K.C.—is clearly stamped on the ricasso of this blade, a hallmark of quality and tradition in European sword-making.
This saber features:
A sturdy steel blade with a long fuller, showing bright polish with light age spotting and patina.
The classic stirrup hilt with a protective iron guard, retaining traces of its original finish.
A grip wrapped in shagreen (ray skin) with twisted brass wire, all intact and tight.
Original leather washer still present at the guard.
Condition is solid, with honest age wear and patina consistent with service use and storage. The blade remains straight, with no cracks or major damage—just the kind of authentic character serious collectors appreciate.
A genuine piece of late 19th to early 20th century German militaria, this WKC saber is ideal for collectors of Imperial German arms, European cavalry weapons, or anyone seeking an impressive display piece with real history behind it.
