Antique British Officer’s Sword – Samuel Brothers, London
For sale is an authentic British officer’s sword retailed by Samuel Brothers Ltd., Outfitters, 65 & 67 Ludgate Hill, London. This fine example features a straight, fullered blade with detailed etched floral scrolls, royal crown, and cypher. The ricasso is marked with the Samuel Brothers retailer’s panel and retains its brass proof disc.
The sword has the classic 1897 Pattern steel guard, pierced with the royal cypher beneath a crown. The grip is wrapped in shagreen (ray skin) with twisted wire binding, showing expected wear from age but remaining secure.
The sword measures approximately 32–33 inches in blade length and comes with its original leather field scabbard fitted with brass mounts.
Condition: Blade is in good shape with clear etching, showing only light age patina. Guard and grip show natural wear consistent with service. Scabbard is intact with surface wear.
